happy hannukah!
I never know how to spell it! But it is a very happy Hannukah indeed. Yesterday Mendel went over to the school near our house to meet with the head to talk about the screaming children. According to Mendel, the Rabbi was very nice and will both talk to the kids and maybe even put up some sort of barrier. I think it was helpful that Mendel’s name is Mendel. He got invited to services AND shabbat dinner. A few hours after his conversation with the Rabbi he got a phone call from an unknown number. He picked it and it was the Rabbi saying that he had a welcome to the neighborhood gift - a menorah and gorgeous candles from Israel! So last night Mendel and I did the inagural lighting of a menorah in Witkem House with the menorah and candles from the Rabbi:

We think they are men sitting on wine barrels. And there are 8 in total which is perfect because we have 6 Witkem residents and the Lord and Lady of the house, Larry and Kathy, to make 8!
For the first night of Hannukah feast, we heated up some chili I made the night before, made sweet potatoes and quickles and Kyla, Mel, and Mel’s friend Don joined us. We also drank some Prosecco to make it a true celebration.

Happy Holidays!
